Is Contest 30 a good boat?

Hello

I have been looking at a CONTEST 30 (Conyplex) from 1969 that looks very nice, but I have been unable to find anyone who knows anything about the boat.
I know the following: this model (MK1) was built between 1968-1970 in 1971 the MK2 came whit another superstructure on but under the waterline it is the same.
The boat was designed by U. van Essen. And it has a modified fin keel and a skeg hung rudder.
When Sailing Today did a used boat test on the Golden Hind they said the Contest 30 was an alternative to the GH. Could that mean that the Contest 30 also is a little “Blue Water” boat?
Is it a good boat?
Does anyone know?
Any info would be much appreciated.

Best regards and fair winds

A bout 12 years ago I helped sail a Contest 30 (don't know which version) from South Scotland to Tenerife. Her name was Hesket. She appeared to be soundly built, although I believe her owner had her treated for osmosis prior to the trip. Nothing broke, and although not a racer, she performed V. well.
Cheers, Dave

They are fundamentally a good boat, a great sail. There are at least two I know off at our marina, one has had some osmosis treatment and is now used regularly the other is for sale through Dickies, looks fine, but at £27k appears a little expensive(ish). Like any old boat expect low entry price and lots of maintenance. Good luck.

Thank You, David.
I wonder if the osmosis problem is a common thing with the Contes range or only a matter of "old age boat" syndrom? Do you know?
I think you are right about the price, it is very high.
In general you seem to have very high prices in UK I always look at YM and PBO and I am always amazed when I look at the price range.

Once again Thank You

Oliver. I do not know very much about the Trintella but I know a little. there is two Trintella ll, A, and B.The difference is (I think) that one of theme had a wooden superstucture and the other GRP.
They whore also sold in Sweden as Harmony 31. The hulls whore built in England all GRP but the interior was made on the west coast of Sweden to a rather high standard as most of the boats from that area (Najad Hallberg Malö etc.) The Harmony 31 sold in Sweden had a lead ballast. I think the Trintella had cast iron ballast. I talked to a person here in Stockholm who had a H31 and he was very happy with the boat
There is a Dutch owners ass. on the web that have some info in english. Go to Google.com and type "trintella 2" there you will find there "spec. page"

Fair winds
