Is anyone familiar with a Tahiti ketch?

One has caught my eye...

Slow boats i know ...any comments welcome !

Aye indeed, they are slow because they are usually under-rigged, but quite roomy inside. Tom Colvin redrew the design to be built in steel, and called it "Tahitiana". He gave it taller masts while he was at it. The saying is that "They won't drown you but they might starve you." Handsome boats with heaps of style. There was one advertised in Bundaberg, Queensland, a little while ago, and it was in beautiful condition.

Peterduck are you sure it was redrawn by Tom Colvin?I was interested years back i a steel version and remember writtig to Weston Martyr ad gettig a letter back from his widow and I also had some stuff from some one in Bristol UK who built the Tahitiana....orcourse my memory could be bad.Even so the wooden boat is a grand boat and I always regret not getting one when younger !!!!!

I have a nice article from an American magazine in 1976 about Tahitiana, written by Weston Farmer. If anybody would like a copy, please revert with an email address.
The article is 5 pages, and includes a lines plan and some construction details.
One quote in the article stands out - "Tahitiana is still a poor man's boat. She can be put up, as to hull, for about the price of a good automobile".
