Bit of a nerdy question this; apologies.
I'm trying to get my head around the meaning of the Col Regs Rule 26 wording. I understand all the stuff about 'two cones with their apexes together in a vertical line one above the other.' The bit that puzzles me is Part C (ii);
'A vessel engaged in fishing, other than trawling, shall exhibit, when there is outlying gear extending more than 150 metres horizontally from the vessel, an all-round white light or a cone apex upwards in the direction of the gear.'
The all-round white light is pretty self explanatory, but 'a cone apex upwards in the direction of the gear' - does that just mean if the nets are at the stern, then that's where the cone goes? Conversely if they're off the port beam, the cone should move to midships on the port side?
