Irish Waterways

Hi
Do boats that use the Inland waterways in Ireland need the same safety criteria as laid out by the British Inland waterways?? Swmbo fancies taking the boat over on the trailer, for the Summer, I don't fancy having to go through the expense, and aggro of getting the boat certificated!

Not on the Shannon, but its a couple of years since we last went. You need to register yer boat but the visitors register free.
The wife's family come from there so if you want info I could get them to send over some literature.
