Had this handheld compass for many years. Like it a lot. Can't say it has been used an awful lot. Certainly not knocked around.

Found a bubble - can live with that. (Even though their technology states bubbles are a thing of the past - and I can find no leak spot)

But upon inspection, found that if the sighting bit (as if you were taking a bearing) is set up at 180, then the other bit (the opposite side of the card whery you can just look down for a bearing) is off by about 5 degrees (i.e. not 000).

If you have one, you may understand what I've tried to say.

Question is, has anyone any experience of Plastimo customer services; I have never been able to get through to them let alone get an answer.

If not, I can live with it.

Try the Head Office on this # 0033 2978 73636.
My contacts at Lorient are probably out of date. But Joanne or Anne-Marie Grenier were in Customer Dervice and were extremely helpful on a number of issues.

The QAS director was Francois Borrell.

The UK Plastimo operation is small and, as far as I know ,they don't have a dedicated customer service.

PS switchboard probably doesn't speak English, so you'll need to use French.

This is the Iris hand bearing compass ?

Even for the Contest bulkhead compasses, I've read recently there's no re-filling service.

I had a bubble in a Contest I put up with for a year or two; just when I really needed it in fog, the whole lot disappeared.

I think if you're going to need a H/B compass - and I submit every coastal / offshore boat does - you're in for a new one.

Funny you should say that.
Was cleaning out the boat for the winter the other day and came across my Iris50 complete with bubble. Luckily its small and doesnt affect the card.
Got it several years ago at Soton BS and bubble has only appeared this year.

On the bright side it now doubles up as a clinometer.
