Having had loads of good advice from people on here I'm starting to think Ipswitch to Caernarfon is a bit ambitious for me in the time allowed. Is the anyone who would like to sail the yacht with me as the crew and earn some cash at the same. About the 26th on a Moody 30?

Well that's going to be your summer holidays gone. But a chance to visit some nice places and skip the others.
Also you'll get to really practice your tide gates as you go along the south coast. Quite important to make reasonable time on some legs.

Prettiest is the leg from Milford.

Make sure you pace yourself enough to enjoy it. Keep a log too, makes delightful reading when it is all over.

Hope the crew search works out. I've sailed with some nice people that way.
 
The main thing that suddenly worries me is if i did it under power how much distance could i cover in a day? I realised i need to sleep.

Average 5 knts at best, 5 x 24 = 120, plus calling in for refuel time, so work it out on that basis.
You will need to sleep though, too close to coast, to nod off.

I'm slightly confused. If you have crew you will have ample opportunity to sleep while they keep watch.
However there are numerous good anchorages that don't take you far out of your way going down Channel. I do the Medway to Plymouth or Falmouth single handed a lot and have learned to stop and sleep for at least a few hours in every 24. If you have an almanac it will show where the good anchorages are. Although if I have an Easterly with a S Westerly forecast I will try and keep going as long as possible. Some places where traffic is light I will often let the self steering have control and put my head down for 15 minutes at a time. Lyme Bay at 0300 I find is always deserted except for me and I have slept crossing the Solent towards St Catherines in 15 minute snatches even with all the ships anchored off.

If I am stopping for a decent sleep I find I can cover about 60 miles in a day without any stress, mostly with the tide but occasionally will punch the tide to make sure I have a favourable tide for the next headland.
