In the long term, I am not entirely reassured by the fact that it has been held back on financial grounds, rather than on the fact that it would interfere with the interests of yachtsmen.

I hope it is stopped. After two sons at Ipswich Sea Cadets I know the area where the big bridge will land on the Cliff Quay side; that roundabout isn’t as big as it is made to appear in the visualisations and the roads are already congested.

The bridge needs to be built. But, like others I am not convinced the design on offer will not close Ipswich as a yachting facility.

By way of comparison, the government failed to build a bridge at Woolwich to replace the ferries. I wonder what chance for something as small as Ipswich.

What is needed is a northern bypass and sorting out the traffic lights by the University. The proposed pedestrian/cycle bridges excepted.
