Ipswich marinas

I am on the boat in the Orwell with my 23-year old son and his mate. Weather is rubbish and I thought it might be a good idea to head to Ipswich for the bright lights, or at least a pub or two and some supplies. Been years since I've been there. Question is- which is the best marina for a brief visit?

Ipswich Haven would be my choice. Always have room on the visitors berth friendly staff etc. Downside is a longer walk to the Town.

Bright lights (mostly flashing blue with accompanying sirens), pubs and supplies, best bet is the Haven at Ipswich. Two minute walk into town.

Hi,
Everyone to there own on choice of marina both have their benefits. Your 23 yr old son and mate will appreciate the Cult bar in the James Hehir building which you get to by walking past Neptune marina towards the lock,White and black checkered building. Mix of students and older folk. Nice atmosphere good food and comfy sofas. See they have a jamming night on Thursday which is good for a giggle.

Had a great time in Ipswich- endorse all the positive comments about the Haven Marina. Ipswich- what a contrast to when I worked there in the early '80s! £24 per night seemed reasonable. Then sailed to Brightllingsea where I was relieved of £20- a 33% increase over last year. What a rip-off. I am very fond of Brightlingsea but this is taking the p**s. And it appears that the Yacht Club has reduced its opening times and no longer does food. What a shame. It used to be one of my favourite destinations but not any longer.
