Can you please advise how best to connect my IPOD to car speakers in the cabin, I know that there is a possibility of connecting a device to the IPOD which creates a radio wave wich can be picked up by the radio but dont like this idea . Also can this be connected to a waterproof speaker in the cockpit any suggestions of which type of speaker to use

any suggestions greatfully received

I dont think the output from an ipod is going to drive some 5" speakers. You dont need to use an ipod bit of gear, for the radio transmitter.. ebay have a number of them, but I would go that route. If you get one where the ipod plugs into the unit, that plugs into the cigar lighter socket., it charges the ipod too.
They were about £20. Thats the route I ve gone.Clean and easy.

It'll only work if you have powered speakers.

I use my iPod on the boat with Phillips powered speakers and its OK.

As suggested above you can use a plug-in charger/transmitter - I have one for the car and its OK. If you have an FM receiver in the boat that would be the best bet. (I only paid about a tenner for mine tho...)

if your radio is a cassette radio rather than CD you can buy kit which is a cassette with wire that plus into the IPOD
you then just plug it in and play using cassette controls etc
(I have seen it sold in in Tesco)

Depending on your radio you may be able to use the "Aux in" connection and hence the audio amp and speakers of the radio. I use this for audio from my anolgue/digital T.V. receiver which feeds a VGA monitor (so, no audio). The aux in is normally some banana type cockets but again depends on radio make.

You could of course buy an iPod ready radio. I bought one for my car and I'm sure that it was £100 - £120.

Charges iPod and uses the radio controls to drive the iPod
