Looking at kitting out a dive boat using an IPad as both a plotter and maybe also a fishfinder, if I can find a suitable transducer.

I already have Navionics charts loaded which work well but I'm thinking of buying a separate GPS receiver for offshore work, have seen one of these

Will this work with my Navionics charts? Can't see any reason why not but prefer to be sure before buying it. And has anyone found a fishfinder transducer that will speak with the IPad?
TIA.

Others can advise further but beware of devices which use Bluetooth to connect to the ipad.
If I am correct Apple use a modified version of Bluetooth which only recognises a very limited range of devices like the Bad Elf GPS etc.

Guess how I know:mad:

Yes and limited up/down streaming of data - limited to what Apple want you to do e.g. no music streaming. I'm OK with this as i buy into the Apple philosophy of "if you let us decide how it can be used then we'll make sure it always works" - as for the built in GPS it's near perfect - almost instant fix.
