I'm thinking of laying up somewhere in the Ionian Is. or coast next winter - anybody got any suggestions, or berthing/ashore layup prices etc.?

Hello and welcome
Sorry to say it is very expensive to lay up in this area We used Joe Chalton at CYS levkas bit of a rip off ! Preveza Marine and Cleopatra marine ok There is a new Kirucolis Marina in Levkas town I hare not tried ,I myself would go south to Pilos
O Navarinou 36deg 54-09N 21deg 41-6E You will be able to leave your yacht here for little or no charge The port Captain is a very nice chap and very helpfull .Cheers bob t

Prevessa Marine 2002 prices all Berthing ashore on cradle up to 7 months@15.9€ per meter per month.after 7 months up to 12 months @7€ per m per m.
Hauling and launch 25€ per meter.Security good .no live aboard november to march.Cleopatra and Aktio Marina next door all about the same price
New marina at levkas same owners as Gouvia on Corfu.prices on meterage of boat .lay up ashore does not look very secure.
Contact Sue at Siox sails in nidri ,plenty of other yards and afloat but the first three are best for security, albeit ashore.E mail me if you need further info.
I keep one boat in Patras Marina @ about £ 500 per year 9.5M.

Thanks for the info - I've had some emails and faxes now - I see what you mean about the prices. Somehow I thought it woukd be cheaper than the western med.
Might revert to plan A now, which is Malta or Tunisia.

Re: Ionian Lay-up rt boss

Hi

I am Richard Cluver owner of the yacht Tasman currently lying Cleopatra Marina in Preveza Greece. Yesterday I picked up a dialogue about layovers in the Ionian and wanted more. Has anyone laid over at Trizonia Marina in the gulf of Corinth and can offer comment on costs. Any other affordable marinas in that area?

Re: Ionian Lay-up rt boss

My boats spent six winters in Preveza Marine and always found them a friendly helpful bunch in every way. Never stayed in the other two but chose PM after hearing scare stories about the other two.
Actio was always friendly in my contact with them but not so Cleopatra. There is another yard in Preveza to the east which has a reputation for half the price but very poor everything.

Trizonia is a bit isolated but apparently good place to stay for free. Beware of apparently good empty places. Below the surface could be one of the many sunken boats. Tie up first and wander around.
