Hi...Posted early this year about 1,5 kw Skytronic inverter of oriental origin I bought from TLC for 230 pounds. Worked OK in my garage, microwave, vacuum cleaner etc, but here in Aegean, 40 degrees in cabin, it started screaming foul a minute or so after switch-on.
Opened it up, the brushless blower jammed solid, flimsy fan moulding trashed. Not wishing to invoke guarantee at 3000 kms range, I jerry rigged electric dinghy inflator in place of fan, worked a treat, but noise like air raid siren.
Bought 800 watt hairdrier locally for 25 Euros, hoping to strip out element and run fan only from 220 volt side. Whoopie, fan motor was 12 volt and very robust, mounting even lining up with original holes on inverter.
All smiles again, and delicate sound of hair being dried in starboard aft cabin.
Cheers....R
