Hello, my name is Chris and I live between Bournemouth and Southampton. Had done some sailing 30 years ago (flotilla holidays in the Med) but took a hiatus when my daughter was born and have recently got back to boating, but motor boating this time. Have done the RYA Day Skipper, PB2, VHF, Radar, Engine maintenance courses. Have seen that Warsash do a one week marine diesel engine course and I will sign up for that. Joined Pure Latitude and have been out around the Solent, IOW and Purbecks. Ideally, would like to buy a full displacement boat and potter around the British Isles and have a wife who doesn't get seasick and who likes boating as well. May have to wait for retirement for that.

Bonjour Chris, welcome to the forum...wives are funny things...I was allowed a boat because it’s my hobby...but now she is dead keen and always looking at the weather to see when we can go out...she really only wants to go one place..but I’m not complaining

Welcome NF. It sounds like you are doing all the right things, and The Solent is a great place for boating. You just have to decide budget, size, and type of craft. Lots of advice on here. Some of it useful!
