The 32 year old windows, formerly by Houdini leaked profusely.
The mastic substance had turned to a powder and moss was growing inside the gaps.
I tried all the remedies in here to no avail, so here is the final solution.

Windows were made by Technautic, half the price quoted by Houdini/Seaglaze etc.....
They are type GCS screwed from inside.
I sent my old windows down, they made direct replacements AND pre-bent to the 15mm curve.

I had to cut the opening 12mm bigger all round, easy with the Fein Multimaster.
New windows slid in easy pre-bend was spot on and no messy goo needed, just a band of rubber on the outside, it's like draught excluder but a denser rubber.

Really pleased with Technautic, I don't usually go by price.

Aitchem,

Was there a good reason why they could not make them fit the original opening thus eliminating the need to remove 12mm all round.

Smart job though.

Yes,
The reason is, because that's the extent of the holes used by the interscrews.
Technautic recommended the opening be made 12mm bigger all round to totally remove the holes, which would have been right at the edge of the new sealing flange.
