Internet,email, gprs?

It may have been covered but i can't find thread!
I have a gprs pcmica card for me laptop used it in france last nov, but £25.00 sim card bought in uk went in a flash, whats the best option, also used t'mobile gprs on me pda over there and when i got back a month later I had over a £100.00 bill waiting, yep I did turn off images???

Where you using it. I know orange do a data card which you can get unlimited 24hr access for about 50 pounds a month

Hi Dave, wer'e heading for France some time this month, had a email from orange that I got the data card from said that their roaming prices apply in france, didn't want another contract 8 months into t mobile of a 18mth one, can I buy a payasyougo in france and use that in my gprs card?

In England, (UK??), Orange PAYG allows you to call and select an option with unlimited downloads for the day, (runs 0000-2359 i.e. if you buy it at 1800, it starts 1 hour later, and you get until 2359). or you can buy 4Mb for a small amount, and this lasts for a month, and isnt used up on a day you buy the unlimited option.

With my Orange or O2 sims, I d/l about 1MB fairly quickly after a few pages of ebay, (lots of pictures).

Or you could look at the Italian PAYG from WIND - they currently offer 1GB downloads in Italy, or 200MB roaming for 20 euros per month. The offer ends in June, but it was renewed last November, and the hope is that it is renewed again. Havent used it yet, but have researched the pants off it and will be getting one very shortly, probably on ebay.

Alternatives are to buy local sims, but I dont know how you find the deals.

Thanks Richard, yep I soon learned that leaving images on was a mistake, using roaming is very expensive, I will buy payasyougo for phone calls while while in france.
