I have used this for the first time.
i have the teak washboard guides with teak grab handles attached.i had left then scrubbed but have sanded then down & used woodskin. now they do look much better
(shame about the tint) i find the woodskin very odd to apply as it dries very quickly initially leaving brush marks.
any tips to avoid brush marks & allow it to flow better

Strange. I also used it for the first time this year. Found that the first coat was very slow to dry but once that had "gone off" subsequent coats dried quite quickly. No brush marks at all. Could be temperature related in that I was using it in cool conditions in the spring.

I've been using this for two seasons now (on a wooden Golden Hind), but have not noticed what you describe.Having tried most other finishes over the years I'm quite pleased with this product...for a change :)

I took the plunge and used it extensively this year on iroko. I thinned the first coat with white spirit. Everywhere now has 3 coats and am quite pleased with the result. I just hope that it lasts.

I'm surprised when you say it dries too quickly. I haven't used it myself but thought it was supposed to be very similar to Sadolin Ultra which takes all day to dry on teak, so much so that it's difficult to find a decent enough day to use it outside in the spring when prepping the boat (in the UK) I've been very impressed with it generally though although being breathable / flexible it is a little soft but then again its easy to touch up. Perhaps you could try this?

It is the "initial" wet edge that i am having probs with, is quickly goes tacky so when one goes back to brush out it drags

Thin it a little with good quality white spirit. I have used Woodskin for all the teak trim on our boat over the last three years-and there is a lot of it-without encountering your problem. If you are rich use the International thinner.

It is not very durable in areas where lines work on it, but has an excellent finish, is easy to touch in and looks really good.

Compared to what we used before, 9/10.

International say do not thin!

White Spirit cleans up the brushes and any drops well, so it is a possible solvent for thinning-and delaying the drying time, which is what the OP is having trouble with.

He, I am sure, can test a small area and see if it works.

The BLMC workshop manual said that to change the tiny by-pass hose on a Mini it was required to remove the head.

The job could be done in 10 minutes easy with the right hose and clips, head in place.

IMHO its worth a punt.

Agree with previous comments re trying a test area with thinning despite what International say. Perhaps use it when the boat is in the shade or temperatures cooler ie early morning/evening. And as, rotrax put it, it's so much better than everything else I've tried before. 9/10 for me as well.

Quite well aware of how a bypas hose in a BMC mini and similar engines could be replaced ( we had an A35 in the family for about 20 years )

Not sure i see much similarity with applying Woodskin,

I was just quoting from the Datasheet. Perhaps International have not realised that you can buy special squashy white spirit that overcomes the problem cause by the nrmal stuff

Have you experienced a problem then?

The white spirit I have on board cleans the brushes very well, and cleans the non-slip if you spill a bit.

That leads me to believe it will work as a thinner.

My white spirit is nothing too special, but not pound shop stuff.

I dont believe there will be a problem-but remember the OP has one, which we are trying to fix.............................

Yes I am sure your white spirit cleans the brushes very well. International say use Thinner No 1 for brush cleaning, so obviously it will. I expect the pound shop stuff will as well.

International say not to thin the product ....... That was all I was pointing out.
