International v Hempel Anti Fouling

I am about to anti foul for the season. In the past I have always used International products, specifically Ultra on planing boats and Cruiser Uno on our current Trader 42, which mostly cruises at displacement speed. Results have always been good. We have taken off all the old anti-foul and are starting ffrom scratch. I notice that the cost of Hempel's comparative products (Hard Racing and Cruising Performer) is considerably less than the International products. Does anyone have any experience which would help a decision? Is it simply a case of you get what you pay for?

Sounds like Hempel Cruising Performer erodes faster than Cruiser Uno ... and more coats are recommended..

From their datasheet ...

Recommended number of coats:
Airless spray: 2-3 coats, Minimum: 120 micron total dry film thickness.
Air spray, Brush, Roller, Paint pad: 3-5 coats.
When used at speeds above 15 knots, an additional coat must be applied.......

Definitely use soft eroding a/f imho.

I don't know about the Int vs Hempel comparison, but International Micron 77 is the best, imho. It is more expensive but you only need 2 coats then a top up single coat every 2nd year, so might not be as expensive as others when you work out the true cost
