In our attempts to fend off the merry-go-round loving barnicals that love to stick to the prop shafts. We have been pointed in the direction of a spray on stuff from international paints. Anybody used it and is it worth £25 per tin ?
Alternativly anyone got any better solutions that don't involve monthly lift outs.

Has anyone tried the little electronic sonic whatsername things that make a nasty noise to frightne away the barnacles? Do they work?

The only stuff I know of is also by International and its called Veridian. It appears to be a varnish type coat with some hefty claims as to anti-fouling. As for me the 45knot barnacle has yet to evolve, so I'll just keep on moving

Spoke to somebody the other day who had worked on some big super yachts and he reckoned that they were more trouble than they were worth and made no appreciable difference to the barnicals etc. His opinion not mine, I've never used one.

Just out of interest is there a way of removing the little buggers without removing the skin from one's hands as the scraper skids during the attempts to remove their little homes ?

Mate of mine and I cleaned his Shetland after 2 years in the water with a high pressure jet wash. Removed 99% of them and the rest were easy to scrape.

easiest and safest is to leave the little buggers for
a couple of months (out of the water) and they mostly turn
back to calcium ,can almost brush them off then.

Yes it works upto a point,a lot better than not useing it.Try locking into a river or canal for a weekend if poss,the little buggers dont like fresh water and tend to drop off(well they do in my local canal or maybe its the sewage thats dumped in it)
