I have a keel stepped mast with in mast furling. The 'slot' in the mast goes from top to bottom and the wires are run in separate conduit. I get a fair amount of (rain) water down the mast and would like to seal it. I understand that the trick is to put a balloon in side the mast just above deck level, inflate it, and then squirt in some form of sealant. Any water that comes down the mast will come out of the slot, rather than ending up in the bilge. I would be grateful for advice on a suitable sealant - presumably at some point the balloon will burst, so the sealant needs to be strong enough to support its own weight, but remain flexible enough not to crack with any flexing of the mast. Any thoughts much appreciated.
