My Raymarine ST60 wind instrument has an intermittent fault and so far I cant find what is causing it.
Most of the time it works but occasionally the wind speed will either read 0 or approximately half of the wind speed. The wind direction needle is not affected by this.
The fault usually appears either when the instrument is first turned on or when the engine is turned on.
If I disconnect the power when it reads 0 and then reconnect the correct wind speed is displayed and then over the next 30 seconds or so the reading gradually dies to 0
The instrument is normally powered directly from the boats switchboard, I have tried disconnecting this and using a seatalk connection from the auto helm but the fault remains the same.
When the engine is on the alternator is putting out about 14.25v
Any suggestions on what is causing this will be gratefully received but I am beginning to suspect a faulty instrument(I don't know how old it is). If it is faulty can anyone recommend who to send it to for an assessment without being charge silly money to be told it needs replacing.
Regards Jonathan
