I'm considering enlarging an internal cabinet (only a small floor level one) and will need to source some ply sheet (10/12mm or so). I'd like to get as near a match as possible to the existing Beneteau panelling (1993, fairly dark wood). Does anyone know

  1. What type of veneer Beneteau used
  2. Where I can find something similar
  3. What colour varnishes Ben. used
  4. If there is any kind of web resource for any of the above?

Robbins Timber do a wide range of veneers and will veneer panels to order. Your original may not be "real" veneer but printed. Probably best to take say an existing door as a sample and get the closest match which you can fine tune by staining and final finishing. The original coating will have been sprayed on and heat cured, so again you will have to experiment to get a match. On my Bavaria (which is real Sapele) I went through a stock of panels to find a match in grain, but needed a little bit of staining to get the colour right and finished with Ronseal satin to get a good final finish. Epifanes rubbed finish also blends well with matt finish originals.
