Interior varnish

If you end up doing the floors then I can highly recommend Blakes Diamond Two Pack. Its rock solid, easy to apply and has a nice gloss. I brushed on at home in the warmth (key point)

I'd go Epifanes for just bulkheads etc - thinned sufficiently, by brush and not until April 2011!

I recently saw someone recommend an Epiphanes varnish which I think was called "brush effect" for a semi-matt finish, which sounded useful.

I am looking to re-varnish and touch up the interior woodwork on my Victoria 34. What do forumites currectly recommend - method and type of varnish (or laquer) brush or spray ?

Thanks in anticipation

We recommend Sikkens Matt, applied with a small foam brush for small areas.

Don't want to quibble but it is called "Epifanes Rubbed Effect".
Do your build up coats in Epifanes Gloss (easier to see holidays)
and final coat in Rubbed Effect.
Use a good brush such as a Badger and certainly don't spray it,
the masking effort is crazy!
Cheers,
Chris

Blackfriars....

Have commented on this subject earlier in the year so I won't say too much now. I've used just about every varnish on the market over the past thirty odd years in my job and>>>>>>>

There's only one I use now because it ticks all the boxes and that's Blackfriars. Not a trendy yachty type name to bandy about, but the product knocks into a hat the so called yacht varnishes.

My favourite for yacht interiors is Blackfriar-Duratough Clear Satin Varnish, it flows beautifully. The URL is below....

For the interior of the boat I would save the vouchers and go for anything with a reasonable finish. The only exception would be if there are areas subject to UV coming through port-lights.
That will free up cash to spend on exterior brightwork where the quality of varnish will make a real difference.
I invest in Le Tonkenois for the exterior mahogany. Inside its cheapo International Yacht Varnish (which it isn't) from B&Q.
