i am looking to mount an AIS and GPS antenna close to my rader dome , on the same pedistal , about 15 ft from sea level off the stern of the boat , , is this likely to interfere with or compromise any of their signals ? ta R .
Yes! Don't know what vertical or horizontal distances you are envisaging but radar pulses can "Blow" active antenna's used in these systems. Do the manufacturers of the equipment's not specify distances?i am looking to mount an AIS and GPS antenna close to my rader dome , on the same pedistal , about 15 ft from sea level off the stern of the boat , , is this likely to interfere with or compromise any of their signals ? ta R .
the gps antena was / would only be on the pedistol for convenience of mounting . tyYour GPS antenna should be mounted as near to sea level as possible, there is no advantage mounting it on a pedestal as long as there are no signal absorbing items above it.
ty, mine is also 4GD on a solar arch , was just hoping to get them all together for convenience as space is limited.I’ve the same set up and no problems at all, radar 4g digital so very little power, however just move gps inside anyway as it works just as well but that was just to put TV antenna where it was on the arch.
ty , pretty close , i will look into any manufacturers recomendationsYes! Don't know what vertical or horizontal distances you are envisaging but radar pulses can "Blow" active antenna's used in these systems. Do the manufacturers of the equipment's not specify distances?
i assume in " nothing " you mean no ill affects as opposed to no signal ?digital radar is not pulsed and very low power so no issue, ours outputs 165mW, our antenna 200mm away and gets nothing when radar on.
