I have just installed a wind generator with regulator and 2 resistors where excess current is dumped if the batteries are full. The instructions say that the equipment and cables have to be a meter from nav eqpt and data cables.

There are about 1.5 metrs away - but I am still concerned there might be interference. How do i minimise an interference can i put a metal shield in between the regulator/resistors and the nav eqpt?

The cables from the wind generator run close to the cable from the GPS antenna - how can i help isolate them ( apart from distance)?

Thanks
Sam

I don't have any fancy plotters or similar, but my GPS antenna lead runs quite close (less than an inch in places) to other wiring, including my VHF antenna and depth sounder cables, and I don't seem to have any problems.

In any case, as long as you're further than the required distance, you're very unlikely to have any problems. Companies are so paranoid about getting blamed for causing electronic interference that I suspect they work out the absolute worst case situation, then double the distance.

I have 913 on my boat installed since January. I tested interference on Raymarine radar, plotter, ICOM VHF and HF radio, computers and all other equipment. All is OK. During installation I was following manufacturer instructions.
Boat batteries are happy.

Best regards,

You don't say what equipment you have! However we installed a Rutland system in my friends boat a couple of years ago, sounds similar! The regulator sits within a 1.5mtr. radius of VHF, GPS etc and the power lead from the Geny runs in close proximity to the GPS aerial run. Short answer is that we have had no problems.
Try and give about 50mm seperation between power and signal runs.
