I have just noticed that a person's email address isn't here, is this intentional? Was mis-use of someone's email addy a part of the reason you were forced to ditch the old forum?
Pity! It was handy to be able to drop a private message to someone.

Yes, intentional. The open e-mail address was available for abuse and, sadly, we had a growing file of instances (not just the one that caused the suspension). Karl and I are having a think as to how we can offer forum users the option of privately corresponding in a safe way without it causing an admin headache at our end and a delay for any would be correspondents. As and when we get a fix, will let you know.

E mail addy's were a really good point especially being able to pick up a conversation "off board". And really nice to (give) and get little "thank you's" when someone's given some advice or thought to a question. A good feature, sadly missing now.

Am I right that we now don't get the e-mail messages saying "a new message has been posted etc?" And what about knowing how many new threads\posts there are and why don't the changed colours for read messages stay changed on next log-in? Oh and while I'm here what's HTML? Is this the long series of numbers that I used to use to get in (quickly), whereas I now have to go through the main advert board?

Colin, I mailed you over the weekend with some of the answers to your questions.

In brief, functionality provided by cookies such as number of messages posted since last visit is currently disabled as we're working on some better code.

HTML ability would allow you to change text colour, make it bold, add hyperlinks and so on. It wouldn't help you with the nav of the forums but we've tried to make the step-through from the main to sub indexes as fast as possible to minimise inconvenience.
