On the boat at the moment disconnecting wires all over the place to integrate an AIS 250 in to an existing setup and thought I'd post this to get feedback if my approach is correct before nipping out for a meal and a pint to complete the job later tonight / tomorrow.

Current Setup

C70 with Radar, no DSM, Gyroplus 2 and a 3rd party DSC (ICOM).

DSC is connected to the C70 38.4K baud NMEA output
Gyroplus is connected to the C70 38.4K baud NMEA input

New setup

C70 connected to the AIS250 38.4K baud input and output (DSC and Gyroplus disconnected)
DSC connected to the AIS 4.8K baud output. Original VHF lead routed through the AIS and extended to the Radio from the AIS 250 VHF output.
Gyroplus connected to the AIS250 4.8K baud input with signal then multiplexed out on AIS250 38.4K baud output to the C70.
Leave the Radar connection well alone

sound about right?

"WHAT"?????............ are you English ?????

woo hoo, the AIS lives. currently tracking the Grande Roma cargo ship coming up to the top of Soton Water followed by the tug Svitzer Bentley. That was easier to install than envisaged. Thought process helped along by a glass of vino :)

The only aspect of AIS use in the Solent that you need to understand is how to switch the alarm off. By the time you have got down to Calshot, you will want to install it, otherwise.
