I need to find insurance for a 3yr old Nauticat 331 which I am in the process of buying. I have quotes from GJW & Craft Insure the latter being nearly £200 cheaper, (still v. expensive, but not a cheap boat).

Does anyone have claims experience with Craft Insure ?

I will check some others such as Bishop Skinner & Pants, any comments ?

The differences may well lie in the cover. You should read the policy, there is no short cut, otherwise comparisons on cost are rubbish.

Were with craft insure (3 x boats insured with them over the years) never had to make a claim so couldn't comment on that front, but always helpfull when we've been amending policies etc... agreed with above, read policies carefully. Couldn't find anything in the craft insure policy that caused concern for us.

Edit - worth a forum search craft insure has come up for recoms quite a few times.

We went through yachtline and underwritten by Alliance and Leicester,

www.yachtline.co.uk

Very helpful and they took into account the fact my father is a Marine Engineer by trade and were happy for him to carry out a survey and self certify the boat being in seaworthy condition til we get an insurance survey carried out in the winter.
