My boat is now 31 years old and my current insurer (Craftsure) won't renew the policy without a new survey. As the boat is not of high value I'm not keen on paying for a lift out and survey every couple of years.

Does anyone know of an insurance company who will insure for inland waterways, with third party to about £1million, without a current survey (I do have a BSS certificate)?

Try this site:-

I got insured online with them, with no problems.

That's who I'm with at present. But I would have to get a new survey done before renewing due to the age of the boat. Lift out, survey and lift back in is fairly expensive (probably about £1000) compared to the insured value (£10k).

Noble Marine would be able to offer a third party only policy.

The website form says I need a survey due to the age of the boat.

Try:
- GJW
- Bishop Skinner
- St Margarets
- Pole Star

Some might say they require a survey, but this isn't always the case depending on age, size, and value. Some just require a report from you, or maybe a set of photos.

PM me if you want any more info.

We can, in many circumstances, offer a third party only policy without the need for a survey. I am pleased to confirm that we would be able to offer a liability only policy to you.

I'll revise the wording on our web site to clarify this point.
