So it's that time again, and my renewal demand arrived and provided a nice and easy link to a new form. All going well until I get to the nitty gritty and thankfully noted a significant error, which could have left me effectively without any cover ...

It is on my current policy ...

Ashore or afloat on inland and coastal waters of the United Kingdom including Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Northern Ireland

But on the renewal it now states ...
  • Navigational Limit: Ashore or afloat on inland non tidal waters and interconnecting tidal waterways of the UK, including the Broads and the river Thames not seaward of the Thames Barrier.
Which would be completely unsuitable for a seagoing boat moored on a tidal river. The opening cover statement still states 'Inland Waters', but this is completely different to inland waterways only. NB for me presently I do not require Offshore, so the Inland and Coastal waters restriction is just fine.

I have reported this to the Insurers to correct, and I will come back here to follow up on their actions to correct it, but please do check the wordings on your Insurance applications very carefully. Had I casually just clicked the OK box on the automated form I could have had a massive problem should a claim have arisen.
