OK St. Margarets won't help, Newton Crum(b) won't help, any suggestions where I might go to get a well found 40 year old ex. RNLI boat insured to include occasional single handed use?

A lot of the southcoast Fairey Boats are insured through Coleman Marine in Poole, sorry, dont have their number here, they seem very sympathtic to the value of old wood boats.

The only cover my brother, with an ex RNLI boat (1938) could get was third party, from pantaenius. Try kendall becker ltd. they are on the web.

Yes, but I assume he wanted world wide, not pottering round the Solent and a bit beyond! Thanks for the contact.

Getting worldwide cover is difficult/expensive if not impossible for boats of any age, wood or otherwise.

talk to Simon Evans of Evans Marine in France on +33 386 65 34 66. He's got a collection of 27 or so UK lifeboats and is a leading authority on the subject.

Also talk to Kendall Becker - I get top service and a great price.

Re: Thanks everyone down to here!

Try K C Powell Leigh-on-Sea. Phone 01702 470035.
I have a Macwester 30 and others would not insure me for single-handed but these would, in daylight hours. They are the Macwester Association class insurer. policy is underwritten byRoyal & Sun Alliance.
Let us know how you go on.

Re: Thanks (AGAIN) everyone down to here!

K C Powell said "they didn't insure lifeboats", and some others were a bit sniffy, but I think I've got a quote I can live with from Kendall Becker, complete with an OK if I use her single handed.
