Hi all
I feel i have to make this post as in the past Insurance has always been a worry will they pay out if i have to claim how much or will they find some small print excuse not to pay .You hear so many horror story,s .Well i had the most tramatic sinking of my princess which we have owned lovingy since 2006 it was deverstating for myself & my wife.As we now have a fixed income unlike in 2006 we both thought our boating days were over, which we both loved over the last 20 years or so. Well i rang Knox Johns claim deparment who gave instructions to get the boat lifted and try to de salinate the engines. The person on the other end of the phone was helpfull reashoring and understanding gave me a claim number her name and told me to ring her when i felt better and she would go through the claim with us.with in two days a servaear came to the boat to asses the damage done. He said she wes a total loss i felf ill sick my wife cried i thought it was the worst news we could get.We phoned the claims office and gave them the news.Give me a day or two to get and read the report and we will get back to you.The next afternoon they rang to say i will recive pay out with in 4 weeks.Yes but how much i asked We pay out the sum insured was the answer .The feeling we felt i can not even try to explain. The money was in our bank in just 3 weeks of sinking, we pick up our new boat on Sunday just 4 weeks after the sinking.Haven Knox Johnston were understanding honest, there people helpfull taking us through what is a very worring time step by step.I can only thank the starff for all there help .Ant it nice to know there are good insurance companys out there that do what they put on the packet.

Good to hear. I have spoken on here in praise of HKJ and their current policy (the one they've used for the last 2 years or so). It's good to see it working in practice. They're a good company with a generally good policy and the form and its boss (John Macaulay) have much integrity.

What was the cause of the sinking?

Yes I've been with them thirty years or more, always helpful and I have to say fair on their charges for insurance. My premium hasn't gone up in years even though I changed boats a couple of years ago!
