A friend is just taking over his boat at the end of a Sunsail deal. Surveyed and all work done. The boat is in Croatia.
He doesn't want to use it in July and August so would like to hire it out to family friends and their friends - no open advertising.
The boat is insured with Bishop Skinner whose cover is for self and close family only.
Any suggestions?
TIA

Avalookat at WG yachts. We have used them for all boaty stuff for over twenty years. Personal liveaboard yacht, sailing school yachts, bareboat charter yachts.

Brilliant!

I doubt there exists an insurance policy that has a clause in it that permits hiring your boat out to friends and friends of friends in exchange for financial reward as long as no advertising takes place, if that's what your friend is looking for...

What flag is it? I know the question was about insurance, but he will also need to be cognisant of the coding requirements in Croatia if it's flagged there- I'm sure it already meets these given its history BUT additionally it needs to be inspected by the harbour master every 2 years I think.

If it is UK flagged, then post-Brexit he might have an issue as they only allow chartering of EEA flagged yachts AFAIK.

If it's UK flagged then it will need to be coded as well as have commercial insurance if the 'hire' costs are greater than the marginal costs of charter, currently guestimated to be around £25 per person day max by those who indulge in this practice, such as Crewseekers.
