What are use guys paying for insurance? The reason i ask is mine went up from £93 to £162 in the last 2 years this was blamed on Sept 11. I have not made any claims or changes to the policy details. Total insured is £8500 this includes racing risks and MSSR cover. Does this price seem to expensive?

I pay a fair bit more than that for similar cover. Yes it has gone up recently and been blamed on Sept 11. Wonder how insurance company shares are doing at the moment? Interested in who you are with if you don't mind telling.

I found GJW Direct very expensive. Try K C Powell. Very competative and you deal with blokes that know what they are talking about rather than young girls who are annoyed you rang up as they were busy doing their nails. IMHO

129 quid .... Brest to Elbe, stays in 12 months with increase on excess in winter only .... 25ft Motor Sailer ......

In 1996 - was about 99 quid ..... so increases seem ok ....

KC Powell ....

Agree .... was before with Newton Crum ..... NEVER again !!! GJW were very good - but KC Powell beat them on pricing.

The other point is that KC Powell don't try to fleece by quoting Sept 11 etc. Anyway thats my experience .....

I pay £500 for £125k of yacht in the west coast of Scotland. Try Giles Insurance Brokers in Irvine. Jim Bell is the man and his no is 01294 315481. I was an insurance broker before I retired and Giles know what they are talking about.

KC POwell offers the best of both worlds. The chat with the nice young woman in SOuthend first, then down to business with the Yachtmaster insurance brokers. What have you got against chats with nice young women, Paul?

That's definitely on the high side.

The benchmark is about 0.5% for cover on boats in excess of £50K.

You have a problem in that your cover-value is low and, in the present underwriting climate, you're unlikely to find anyone particularly eager for your business.

Mine is £307 for £3 million 3rd party, £51K hull/machinery, £2500 personal, Brest/Elbe, Atlantic to Gibraltar and Mediterranean to 20E, single-handing with £250 excess.
For £48K the premium goes up.
