I have a small Cobra 750 that I'm working on with a view to using it for some longer trips. I'm in the process of fixing electrics and want to tackle insulation of the hull and deck head.
There's a great article in PBO from March 2012 about a couple who insulated their Cobra 850 but it leaves me with a few questions and hopefully someone here can help me with some answers.
I'm starting in the pilot berth and was thinking of using aluminised bubble wrap, but have have settled on 25mm celotex that will be cut into blocks, glued to the hull and the joints sealed with aluminium tape. To finish off, I intend to use some white PVC cladding intended for bathrooms from Wickes - flexible, cheap(ish) and easy to keep clean.
I've skipped over the fact that I'll be epoxying wooden battens to the hull that will be used to support the cladding. And, in the PBO article, it talks about putting a polythene barrier between the insulation and the cladding. So I'll be doing that too.
For the hull, it seems pretty clear but would anyone be able to help me out with how to deal with the area above the pilot berth because with the shape of the cockpit moulding, it looks super difficult to attach the insulation directly to the fibreglass.
Would anyone have a suggestion how to deal with that space as I'm really keen to crack on.
Thanks in advance
Martin
