I have recently bought a Snapdragon 24 with an Electralog 1 log and a Nasa Target sounder. The log has a small propellor held on by a stainless machine screw which had suffered severely from crevice corrosion. A bit of araldite seems to have fixed it, but the readout is unreliable. DOes anyone know where I can get a new impellor assembly, or can I use a transducer from something else? The book says it should produce a 71cps signal at 10 knots and a straight-line graph down to 0. (Over 10kts on a Snapdragon and I think I'll bail out!). The display is a really nice clear analogue dial that I'd like to keep if at all possible.

The sounder display shows an E on the left of the screen. When stationary, it appears to give something like a sensible reading, flicking over a range of 10-30cm, but when we're moving, it jumps rapidly all over the place, sometimes what I'd expect, then random figures from 0 to 10 times the depth or more. The transducer is fitted through the hull, not in an oil bath. Two questions on this,

1. Any ideas for a fix?

2. Does anyone know where I can get a manual for the sounder?

Thanks to all.
