I am considering installing a webasto air top evo heater with 3 or 4 outlets on my Beneteau
331- single aft cabin version. Is it possible to bring the exhaust system out via the transom or port side stern?which is the best? I would intend putting a hot air outlet in the heads but am unsure of the best ducting route. Has any one installed a similiar heating system on a 331 and if so could you advise on any snags/problems/lessons learned?

Not sure of the ducting route as I don't know your boat. But I definitely would put the exhaust high on the transom. The coolant heaters require much less space for the hoses than the air heaters for the ducting though. And you get hot water as well.

Not on a 331 but follow the instructions. They are critical. The exhaust is quite noisy so put it well away from the cabin.

I took advice from this forum about fitting heating to our Hunter Horizon.

I thought long and hard about positioning and routing.

Excluding the possibility of getting used bits from ebay, if I'd DIY'd it, I'd have saved about 200-300 quid.

I chose to get a pro to do it - I wasn't paying for him to to fit a heater and drill holes in my boat - I was paying him to fit a heater *quickly* and *know where to drill* holes in my boat.

He's probably fitted more Webastos/Ebers than I've had nice winter sailing days, so /in this case/ I was happy to be non-practical.

It was all done in about 1/3rd the time (one day) I'd take, and has been well worth it.

I know this is over 4 years ago, but did you ever install the Webasto? I also have a single aft cabin Oceanis 331 and am contemplating the same process. I am particularly interested in where you fitted the unit (behind the stern cabin bulkhead, above the fuel tank?) and how you ran the ducting

Thanks
