Hi, I am thinking of buying a Dehler 34 that has Eber heating system but no hot water. The engine is a 2GM Yanmar with seawater cooling. I want to install hot water but the kit to convert the engine cooling to a freshwater system is just over £2,000.00 and then the costs of a calorifier and pump and the fitter and the electrician – getting expensive!

Is there a more simple way? For example, can heat be drawn directly from the engine in some way? I would be very grateful for any help.

Best wishes Ted.

I think you will find that the water will get hot enough from the engine to use a calorifier, without going to the expense of fitting a closed system.

Apologies Ken, I am new to the forum and posted the enquiry in the wrong forum - I have posted it again in the PBO forum.

However, my thanks to those who gave advice and made it clear that there is a cheaper way :o . Many thanks

Ted
