Inspection hatch in stern for OD

My OD sits in a U shaped stern. Access from inside to the OD / steering is tight.

The sides of the U, next to the OD are flat and could be cut to fit a watertight hatch, on either side.
Could then reach inside and get to either side of the inside of the OD. Cameras are cheap now for viewing.

That would allow access for maintenance and repair ?

Risk of failure with a SS or allu hatch low ?

This isn’t a good idea.
A hatch that is large enough to allow maintenance will sink the boat in a couple of minutes if compromised.
Outdrive maintenance should be done on dry land.
