When there is a small amount of swell at anchor I can hear by inmast gear banging against the mast inside. I can tighten the halyard and slightly infurl the sail within the mast which helps but nothing totally works. Has anyone got any secret tips?

This is mostly a problem when I have my lightweight ghosting mainsail which just forms less volume within the mast itself.

Think you will find there is a means of tensioning the luff spar extrusion. Assuming it is a Selden the instructions are in the manual on their website, but you need to know the model type.

hmm perhaps from the masthead. Have had the gear from the bottom out a a couple of times and there’s no way from that end.

Its a 26 year old system inside a solid one piece proctor mast. Most likely Selden system. Perhaps I’ll go up the mast and see-what’s what.
