I am unable to find any proper references on the history of the Gib'Sea 38DS Ketch, a french yacht from the early 80s. Many come for sale every so often, yet nobody has ever commented online on sail ability or functionality - or quality and possible construction issues, on that matter...

The (conflicting) specs that I have found, along with some photos, make me believe that this is a Michel Joubert design - based on the successful Gin Fizz hull, albeit with more reasonable layout and motorsailor HP's.

Looks very interesting

Any information or first-hand experience would be appreciated!

We had a similar age Gibsea 96. Quality of materials was good, very spacious boat for its size.

Sailed fast-the best boat for pure sailing we have owned.
