Last week I bought this small boat especialy for carpfishing in Holland. Searching for information I couldn't find anything about it on the internet. Does someone mayby know anything about it. It is built in 1952, the serialnumber is 6. All kind of information is welcome because it is a historical boat.

The builder is very wellknown in England I gues. They built exceptional aircrafts and boats in the past.

Kind regards and thanks in advance,

It's a standard British Forces Assault Boat, and general hack about.

Merry Christmas. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Many thanks for this information. It made it a lot easier to search for pictures of an original boat.

Merry Christmas too!

Hi and welcome B52.
The sight of the Factory is only a few miles from where I live.
The Factory was on the banks of the Menai Straits. A piece of Sea that seperates the Island of Anglesey from mainland North Wales.
Up until recently the remnants of an ingenious overhead "Slipway" were stil visible.
Flying boats were launched from the manufacturing area over the road running alongside the Straits and into the Sea!
They didn't make any B52's there by the way!
I will try and find out approxiamately when Your Hull was made.
Must have been towards the end of Saunders Roe's time there.
Be in touch

Hi Rich,

Thank you for your reply. Hopefully you get to know more about the hull. I'll be very pleased with more information about it because I really love the shape and technical looks of the boat and now it seems to be made by a historical aviation company.

My name is Bas and the boat was built in 1952, so it will be called 'B'52' like my nickname here.

Kind regards,

Bas

I think the above link is an aerial photo of the former Saunders Roe factory site where your boat was made. Used to be lots of them around here, mostly used as tenders for fishing boats.

It is just N of the town of Beaumaris on Anglesey. Not absolutely sure tho' coz this is the first time I knew there had been a S-R factory on the Straits. Maybe Kawasaki can confirm/ correct.

Yes indeed /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif We need the volume for making a shelter on it with a tubular frame, so we can fish during the night on big lakes. Fishing on the banks is almost impossible on this lakes. With the shelter it will be an ideal boat for this circumstances with lots of possibilities.

I remember seeing the Suanders Roe factory, or the site, when I visited relatives around 1959/61. One of my relatives had worked there building the Flying Boats during the war, and afterwards. I remember going along a coast road with the factory/premises on the left and a slipway crossing the road and going into the sea on the right. There is a mention of the factory here under the Margaret Roberts post
