Info on Thorneycroft Hino Engines

The Corvette we are looking at is engined with 250HP Hino diesels marinised by Thorneycroft.

Have done a chunk of research and spoken to VP who we will probably get to survey them but even he hasn't come across them that often.

Long story short they are the commercial division of Toyota and used in trucks and excavators etc around the world, main marine use is Bayliners in the USA

Very highly regarded but not much experience of them in a marine setting in UK.

Engines in question are the Hino W06d-ti

Just wondered if anyone had any info or experience with them or knew a yard that does? Thinking parts supply as much as anything else.

Done some searching on here and a few useful post from @coromar who I think was a previous owner of the boat in question but no longer frequents the forum.

Any info gratefully received - bit like trying to find out who your ancestors were this is

Hino were manufacturers of very rugged old dumper/tipper trucks back in the 80’s. They were also assembled in Ireland by Harris Trucks so they were all over the roads here when I was a kid. There was a Corvette for sale in Ireland in the last few years with Hino’s.

Used to see some Hino tippers a few years back, approx 13 litre engines, they were absolutley massive compared to normal european 13 litre truck engines, though not that powerful, in fact the whole truck was massively over engineered.
I would hazard a guess they are designed to run in much worse conditons than our machines are used to seeing.

these are the same engines marinized by Thornycroft that i have in my boat. did you buy this if so can i ask you a few questions?
