Hi there

we are just buying our first boat which is a little mayland fishing boat... but we are finding it hard to find info on local slipways etc... We have driven down to the marinas today and had a quick peek but im unsure on costs and the actual "how to" etc

If I tell you what my usage will be like maybe some one can offer some good advice for us?

Basically we will only be going out on the boat at weekends mainly just for a bit of fishing and relaxation, so we dont want to pay mega bucks , our first thoughts was just to use the slipways as and when we needed, ideally we are looking for some where, where we can get out at all time times, but im unsure if we have to become members or if we just "turn up on the day"

Ive heard that mayland is only £170 per year to moor which I thought was reasonable? but I assume you can only get out at high tide, in which case, wont you need to be heading back in as soon as you get out?? or do you wait for the NEXT tide??

so can any one offer an insight into this at all?

slips

At Bradwell marina you can slip and park from 8am, about an hour and half either side of low water, there is a slip at Brightlingsea, not too sure about parking the trailer and car though. Bradwell Marina phone is 01621 776235, you also become a club member for the day, so if needed you can shower and have a dram before you leave.

Thanks for your reply,... do you know about costs at all? I will call round the local clubs tomorrow, but ive been putting it off as i dont want to sound stupid lol

Try this site, I think you'll find it very useful. Have fun, I envy you the trailed-boat freedom. http://www.boatlaunch.co.uk/

Hello there,

Another newbie to the forum. Just to say we use Burnham Yacht Harbour fairly reguarly, don't allow "speedboats" for some reason but are OK with our small Quicksilver and all fishing boats and Ribs. Good slipway, full tidal access, although a bit muddy near LW, costs £10 for the day. Good toilets/showers and Bar/Restaurant, and easy to park car and trailer,

Hope this helps.
