<span style="color:blue"> I've just bought a 20ft cabin cruiser. It was advertised privately as a Marina Safari and I am unable to find out anything about the boat or the manufacturer. An internet search has been unsuccessful so far - anyone have any knowledge of this boat or the manufacturers?

Cheers

This will hopefully include some photo's which may mean more than the name :-)

Nah, don't think so, boat is definitely a Marina, oft seen on rivers and canals - I'm sure of it, well pretty certain, well I reckon so, well perhaps.

Probably the best place to find out details would be to enquire at a few boatyards or even marinas - I'm sure that there are others of the marque regularly up for sale.
Actually, just had a flash of memory recall - will have to sit down - try looking under Mayland Marina. Think that Mayland boats may well have been the builder.

My money is still on Mariner.

Try searching fro Mayland Mariner.

A search for Mayland Marina gets you just that, The marina at Maylandsea in Essex.

not sure if this will be of any help but there was a company called Marina Boats Ltd at Tything Road, Kinwarton, Alcester B49 6HD in late 70`s - early 80`s and possibly later.
i had occasion to write to them recently but the letter was returned marked " addressee has gone away ".
the only thing i know about them is they put a small plate on the transom of my boat which is an imported sailing yacht ( ie they didn`t build my boat but they probably imported it ).

The original poster of this question has gone AWOL as it would help to have bigger pictures of the beast and even some more details of it.

What is its power, OB, petrol/diesel inboard , leg or shaft?

Well the Mayland Marina boats that I have seen were outboard powered and not surprisingly they used petrol and had legs - SO THERE /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I also believe that the Safari model came with a canvas extension from the wheelhouse that could enclose the cockpit. Something to do with tents and being on safari perhaps /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Who knows, when I launch it, the result may be just the same!!!

The boat was initially advertised as a Mariner Safari but when I couldn't find any info via google, the seller then announced it was a Marina Safari and that didn't help much either. I've seen a few 'Marina's' on boatsandoutboards but they've all been smaller. Previous owner used it on the Norfolk Broads and it is fitted with a 20hp outboard. I've included another couple of photos below. There are no ID plates anywhere on the boat however, a google search for Mayland Safari shows such a boat did exist........that's a start anyway.

The photo's below are clickable thumbnails so will open as larger images.

Sometimes it helps to use an alternative search engine and I often find that www.alltheweb.com turns up things google fails to find.

Got these results for Mayland Safari:

First result

This one is interesting as it is a Mayland Safari, but is clearly not similar to your boat.

The search did lead me back to where you bought the boat from though. Interesting to see the steering wheel has been moved! It looks a very nice clean boat inside.

Yes, I found this one also, as you say, not the same boat????
The original steering wheel position prevented anyone from actually sitting down and steering - new position for lazy people is much better. Boat's very clean inside but absolutley bare with no battery or electrics, no bilge pump and no cover/canopy (despite an old frame being present). Also, the age of the o/b will cause me some spare part challenges. Oh well.......................thanks for the effort anyway /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

At the risk of causing mirth this one

isn't the same as yours either. However all those that aren't like yours share the three moulded strakes which give them a similar feel.

Whilst looking about for pics of boats I came across some pics of Draco 2000s from the early 70's which had a very similar look down to the angled dark part at the rear of the cabin.
