Info needed on speeedometer?

I have a wasp speedometer and am looking for information on it, age, value etc. I have looked everywhere on the web and can find nothing so i have come i hope of finding an expert who knows. It is a Wasp Type 2B made by E.W.Aspden. Cleveleys. England. Thats all the info i have any info would be great. Thankyou.

See you have had no response. Probably because your Wasp speedo is very old and probably worthless! They had a brief period of popularity about 40 years ago but killed off as soon as cheap electronics came on the scene.
 
Here's one.

They are a trailing log/knot meter that probably date back to the 1970's. Used one for many years and had one as a non-electric spare on the boat until quite recently. The speedometer function tends to waver around a lot but the log function was reasonably accurate.

If it's fully functional and complete with spinner you might get £20 for it on e-bay. Then again, call it 'vintage' and someone will probably pay you £50:D
 
Yes I can remember them from the late 1970s.

I am sure the ones I can remember had hull a mounted spinner with a cable drive like the mechanical VDO ones ... except that the speed dial reads clockwise rather than anticlockwise.

My first cruising yacht, a Snapdragon, had one with a hull mounted spinner, but there was also a trailing version.
