I have ruined the valve on two of my fenders trying to inflate them with the little pump sold in chandlers. The "needle" on the pump seems to have pushed the valve into the fender. What is the correct attachment for inflating these things?

As I posted a few weeks ago dont use anything, get an electric car tyre inflator, switch on and push the bit that you put on the valve firmly against fender valve and it will force air thro. the valve.they are one way valves so works ok,without damaging anything. no good with a hand or foot pump as you cant hold hard enough to stop air leaking and pump at same time.

There is a chance that you can redeem the situation by pushing a small ball bearing a way down the valve to block the hole you have made after an inflation! This is what we used to have to do with early Anchor fenders years ago. I found it paid to seal hole with blue tack afterwards to prevent ball moving too far back up the hole under a severe fender squeeze. Worth a try.

The two broken valve fenders are still serviceable .
At this time of year just leave them outside on a frosty night and then seal the end with a hot glue gun.

Once the fender warms up the correct pressure will be achieved, especially during the summer.

No pump required !
