I'm looking for someone to do things like stitching, patching, UV strip etc etc on sails that are far from new and just need to last another couple of years. Somewhere in the Hampshire/Solent/West Sussex/Chichester area so that I can deliver.

Any suggestions?

A few years back the cheapest for a UV strip replacement i could find was Banks Sails in Sarisbury(?). They even discounted by 25% when I removed the old strip myself. Their work was good too.

Edit to add: Of course the cheapest way to get canvas work done is to do it youself. I do all my own re-stitching etc on a domestic machine that you can get for £50/60 second hand. See former threads for machine suggestions.

I have been using Flew Sails at Wicor, Mark Flew deals with the clients and is very very helpful and has talked me off a ledge a couple of times to save me money.
They do all manner of stuff including canvas work, sail laundry and mending as well as new sails.

No connection other than a happy bunny.

Another vote for 'Do it yourself' for the older sails. I have just retired the original mainsail off my 1977 boat. I was a little embarrassed to take it to a sailmaker to be copied given it's age and with my handiwork all over it, but it still worked! It got to the point where I was putting patches over patches, and would have to bring it home mid season for repairs. I now have a brand new main but I haven't thrown the old one away yet. I have a Jones 553 zig-zag machine, bought for £45.
