I have recently aqquired a replacement engine for my boat, the original engine was raw water cooled as opposed to the replacement which has a heat exchanger setup, all i need to do is find a waterpump to pump seawater through the heat exchanger.

So ideally i need a pump that can be mounted onto the engine and spun using one of the auxiliary belts, anyone have any idea where i could find a pump of that description ?

Regards

No info on engines !

Commonly the raw water pump is a flexible impeller pump and is directly driven eg by the camshaft or gears fom the crankshaft. At least if it is a marine engine and not a marinised engine. That would require the correct pump for the engine!

the freshwater pumps are commonly belt driven.

Tell us what the engine is and someone may be able to help.

Ah yes the Engine ! i did forget to put what engine it was.

Its a marinised 3.0 Essex ford engine, the engine has its own waterpump, but i assume this is the pump that pumps the water round the engine and through the heat exchanger.

As you rightly said you will need a seawater pump that can be belt driven.

Try firms that specialise in marinising automotive engines.

Lancing Marine perhaps.

Jabsco make belt driven pumps that bolt to brackets bolted to the engine. You might have to make up the bracket and I suggest you have a word with Thorneycroft who do pumps of this type for their older engines. Cost when I bought a replacement a couple of years ago was around the £90 mark

One reason for suggesting Lancing Marine is that they specialise in marinised Ford engines. They may be able to supply a suitable pump, mounting bracket and correctly sized pulleys.
