Four Indian warships are due to arrive at Portsmouth on Wednesday 17 June for a courtesy visit. The destroyer Delhi, frigates Beas and Brahmaputra, and support ship Aditya are in the middle of a four-month long deployment, and the visit is the first to the UK by an Indian Task Group for many years.
The task group is commanded by Rear Admiral Surinder Pal Singh Cheema, Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet. The visit will be fairly short, however, because the ships are scheduled to sail on Saturday 20 June to take part in six days of joint exercises with Royal Navy warships.
Could be interesting! I've asked ISC for more information.
"Hello Royal Navy - can you tell me what time the Indian Navy will depart Portsmouth?" - Sorry Sir, security prevents me from releasing that information.
"Can you tell me the proposed routing out of the Solent?"-Sorry Sir, security prevents me from releasing that information.
"Can you tell me if any of the fleet is restricted in ability to manoeuvre?" Sorry Sir, security prevents me from releasing that information /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
