Can someone explain <A target="_blank" HREF=http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1297&item=2484721912&rd=1>this (decidedly non-AWB) boat</A> please?

There used to be lots of these things floating aboutin the 70s..

The trouble was that they would make a McGregor look seaworthy!.. Actually its probably a an OK boat packing a huge amount of features into a short hull, they just look dire...

I suspect they were bought by people who had always played at pirates when they were little kids.

Just the thing for a small river cruiser looking to make the change to a Raggie?

Well there weren't that many. They had a street cred of a Robin Reliant and were even more cramped above decks than a Mirror dinghy. And, from my one experience, they were indeed dire to sail, possibly the all time slowest sailing cruiser.

But they had an aft bedroom to die for, in a 24 footer. Not hard to guess what 'niche' in the sailing market they were intended to fill.

(IMHO of course - apologies to anyone that has one).

Greetings all!

Yes, one of these sit in my local marina. Hear what is said about her credibility and seaworthiness but I do think that they look like fun. Imagine two of these match racing with paint ball "cannons" to make it interesting!

Ahar avast ye lubbers etc.

Cameron regresses by several decades

There is one of these where you are at Mariners Farm Boatyard. It's on the right as you go towards the sea wall. As has been observed here, they do have something of the toy boat about them; and I am not too sure about the claim on ebay that it does 6knts with the 6hp Petter.

I took one in part exchange

when I sold a boat in the 80's. It was in Poole and I took it to the Christchurch Marine Auctions for disposal. The thing I remember most was trying to get through Poole entrance, little old engine, I thing it was a Vire, going flat out and me making maybe 1 knot against the tide. A quite horrible little boat in all respects.
